Double Feature is a format introduced by Tirana Art Lab with the aim of systematically displaying in our premises, two artistic positions to the Albanian, the regional and international audience. For the Double Feature # 6 we will bring together the work of Albanian artist Sokol Peçi and Serbian artist Slobodan Stošić.

The sixth Double Feature presentation is conceived around a commune interest underlining the practice of both artists: the Absurd. Their process of creation starts with the recognition of the Absurd, which constitutes for them the realm from where their artworks come from. The value of their practice lies in the ability to turn absurdity into the subject of their creation process, paradoxically generating subjective meaning from what can be perceived as meaningless. By facing, embracing, documenting or transforming the Absurd, their practice can be considered an act of resistance. Their works aim at confronting the viewer with what they might be consciously or unconsciously eluding.

As Albert Camus writes in The Myth of Sisyphus, the Absurd means both the impossible and the contradictory, and for him the Absurd lies not in the man nor in the world, but in their presence together.

The exhibition includes four works from each artist, most of which are new productions. Each of the works functions like a sequence and all together create a contemporary narrative, reflecting on the political, historical and social absurdity. The works develop in mediums like painting, drawing, video, photography and text. The exhibition relates to relevant events for the Albanian society.

Double Feature # 6 is supported by Albanian Culture Ministry.
