Tirana Art Lab Centre for Contemporary Art, in the agenda of the Artist in Residency Program has invited two artist that will develop and present their project during April and May in Tirana. Klara Schilliger and Valerian Maly are performance artists that live, work and perform together as a couple. The project that they will develop during their residency in Tirana is the “MONUMENT GINGERSOCIETY TIRANA“, a non-hierarchal sculpture. The project is aiming the creation of a discussion and exchange space, for topic related to society, philosophy, art, politics ect. In collaboration with a group of participants from different fields and social groups a huge sculpture in the form of Ginger with cheap wood and newspaper material will be build. Ginger as a structure for the sculpture is not a coincidental choice for the artists. In the field of botanic, Ginger is knows as a rhizome plant that grows under the earth in a non-structured way. In philosophy Rhizome is a philosophical concept developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, where they take as an example the botanic rhizome in this case the Ginger as a metaphor for a 100% non-hierarchical model. The building process of the sculpture will take place from the 18th of April until 5th of May. “MONUMENT GINGERSOCIETY TIRANA“, will be presented in the final form starting from the 6th of May at Qendra Sociale.
